Intel Introduces New Cheaper Single, Dual And Quad Core Processors

Intel Introduces New Cheaper Single, Dual And Quad Core Processors
  • Digg del.icio.us reddit Facebook
Intel has come up with a couple of cost-effective dual/quad core processors, which includes a new entrant into the dual-core chip family and an addition to its already existing 45-nm processor family.

The chip giant has launched a cheaper alternative to its Core 2 Quad6600, based on 45nm architecture, in the guise of 2.33 GHz Core 2 Quad Q8200 processor with 1,333 front side bus (FSB)

The new chip offers only 4MB memory for L2 cache, which is quite lower than its already existing processor line-up that sports memories ranging from 6MB to 12MB; hence, quite evidently Intel has kept a relatively low price tag of USD224, as compared to other Core 2 processors.

Intel has also added 65-nm based E5200 dual core piece into its inventory, which is essentially a 2.5 GHz processor with 800 MHz FSB and include 2MB of L2 cache memory; with the price tag worth USD84, this new processor is the cheapest Core 2 Duo processor.

In addition to these launches, Intel has also upgraded its Celeron D family of processors with the new Celeron D 450, which is a 2.2 GHz processor with a cost worth USD53.

Citing these launches, Intel’s archrival AMD has also dropped down the prices of its Phenom and Athlon range of processors.
